Bear Education
Bear education: the main
threat to the survival of the Andean bear is mankind - habitat
destruction for agriculture, human-bear conflict when bears raid crops,
illegal hunting of bears and bears killed due to fear or
misinformation.
To save Andean bears from extinction, we need to educate
people about them.
Community Education - is
important to overcome false beliefs about Andean bears and to help
local people understand the importance of saving the bears and how they
can co-exist with them. Wildlife conservation has to include
the local community if it is to
be
effective, so we work to educate communities living in bear country
to encourage them
in habitat conservation and protecting the bears.

education for bear conservation.
Raising Awareness
- the Andean bear is one of the lesser-known bear species but we are
working to raise awareness at local, national and international
levels.

bear awareness initiatives and how you can help.
Teaching Materials
- we are developing a range of education resources about the Andean
bear
to help students of all ages learn more about this little-known and
often misunderstood
bear species.

Andean
Bear Conservation Project: Bear Education
Education and awareness about Andean bears, also known as
spectacled bears or Tremarctos
ornatus,
is vital if they are to be saved from extinction. Community
involvement and education help local people to understand more about
the bears.
