Corporate sponsorships
would allow the Andean Bear Foundation to continue and expand its work
to save the Andean bear from extinction. The benefits to
businesses of
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in general are well documented.
CSR with the Andean Bear Foundation offers the additional
advantage of working with local staff in a developing country,
so we can achieve great results with relatively small corporate
donations.
The Andean bear is an
attractive, charismatic
species,
vulnerable to extinction but with a realistic chance of
survival.
The relative lack of knowledge, data and awareness about the
Andean bear, compared to other large mammals, offers the chance for
business sponsors to
quickly make a significant difference to the future of the species.
Corporate
Sponsorship Packages
Sample packages for corporate sponsorship:
* Sanctuary Sponsorship
- Sanctuary
Sponsorships will finance cages, the
Education Centre and other proposed constructions for the Andean
Bear
Sanctuary in Ecuador. Corporate sponsors will have
the right
to name the construction they have funded and we will provide a
permanent sign on each construction with the sponsor's name, logo and
web address.
* Andean Bear Thesis Sponsorship
- this
sponsorship would support an Ecuadorian student to carry
out the research for their thesis with the Andean Bear Project in
Ecuador, and so encourage a new generation of Ecuadorian biologists, as
well as helping the Andean bear. The business sponsor will
have the right to name the award, have their corporate
logo featured on the relevant page of our website and be credited in
the student's thesis and any scientific articles resulting from it.
* Bear Care Sponsorship
- finance a
bear keeper for a year, to care for the Andean
bears
at the Sanctuary. This sponsorship is a very
practical and sustainable way to support the Andean Bear Foundation's
work and would allow us to focus on the bears and their needs without
the worry of how to finance vital staff. The sponsor's
corporate logo and contact details will be featured on a signboard at
the Sanctuary.
* Sustainability and Awareness
Sponsorship - support our ongoing work in raising
international awareness about the Andean bear, the need to
save it from
extinction
and how to help. This sponsorship package will help finance a
part-time marketing professional and promotional materials for a year,
and will feature your corporate logo on our website and on Facebook.
A very sustainable and visible way to use your CSR budget.
* Andean Bear Research Sponsorship
- this sponsorship will help support Andean bear expert
Armando Castellanos in his research
over
the course of one year.
Corporate sponsors will be acknowledged in scientific
articles published using data collected in this year and will have the
right to name a research bear captured in the year of their
sponsorship. Latin
American researchers receive very little grant funding, so this
sponsorship package will help encourage a local initiative and ensure
that knowledge gained from research remains in the country and is
applied locally for true sustainability.
* Sponsor the rehabilitation of an
Andean Bear Cub - this
sponsorship buys you the
right to name "your" bear cub and to be present when it is returned to
the wild. Corporate sponsors will receive monthly updates
while the cub is in captivity and will be listed, with corporate logo,
on our rollcall of bears
returned to the wild.

the USA, so donations are tax-deductible for USA corporations.
Other Ways to
Help
Donate Equipment - Donations
of both new and used equipment (as long as it works!) are
gratefully accepted WITHIN
ECUADOR. Ecuadorian customs charge significant taxes on
parcels arriving in the country, often more than what the contents
are worth. If you would like to send us something from
abroad, you must contact us first on info@andeanbear.org so that we can
establish whether there is a cost-effective method to receive
it.
Send Volunteers -
Corporations may like to send employees to volunteer
or match employee
donations.
