Teaching Materials
Teaching materials about
the Andean
bear are hard to find, especially in English - the species is
little-known and what information there is tends to be in Spanish, that
being the language spoken in all countries where the bears are found.
The Andean Bear Project is working to develop a range of
lesson
plans and educational resources to help raise awareness of spectacled
or Andean bears.
Teachers or environmental
educators
willing to help with developing teaching materials are very welcome and
can either help online or volunteer here in Ecuador.
This Andean Bear Quiz
is suitable for age groups from about 10 years up to adult and can be
printed out or shared online. Check your answers with this
version of the Quiz Questions with Answers.
Focusing on what Andean
bears eat, Bubu the Andean bear and his friends put together a collection of recipes
for Bubu's Big Event back in October 2010. Many of the
recipes
are suitable to cook or assemble with young students.

Bear Conservation Project: Teaching Materials
The Andean Bear Conservation Project works to raise awareness of Tremarcrtos ornatus,
or the "spectacled bear", as the Andean bear is also known.
We
plan to develop a range of lesson plans, teaching materials and
educational resources about the bear for students and teachers.
