Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer
opportunities on the Andean Bear Conservation Project are available all
year round in 2010, apart from Christmas and New Year when the project
will be closed for a short break. Summer volunteer
opportunities tend to book up well ahead, "summer" being June to
September for European volunteers and November / December time for
Australasians. We usually have no more than 6 conservation
volunteer opportunities each month (working in 2 or
3 groups), and a maximum of 3 teaching
assistant volunteers.
The calendar below gives a rough idea of the current
availability of volunteer opportunities on the project:

Opportunities Calendar

Key

Teaching assistant
volunteer
opportunities are usually available from around Easter time to January.
There is currently availability in all these months. Artist
volunteers are welcome at any time of year.
Volunteer photographers and film makers should get
in touch
to discuss a suitable time of year to volunteer.
Volunteer start dates are
usually the first or third Monday of the month. If all
volunteer
opportunities in your preferred month are fully booked, it may be worth
applying anyway and asking to be put on a wait list in case of
cancellations, which obviously cannot be guaranteed. We try
to keep the volunteer opportunities calendar up to date, but the
situation can change quickly and there is no guarantee that there will
still be a place left when you apply. Note that not all
volunteer applications are accepted and that the availability of a
space is not the only criteria.
